This photograph shows the Mills Observatory at the top of Balgay Hill, Dundee, Scotland.
This is the only full-time public observatory in the UK. It was built in 1935 with money from a bequest from the linen and twine manufacturer, John Mills (1806-1889). It houses a 10" Cooke refractor in the papier-mache dome seen in the above picture.
